Summer Networking Challenge

The Summer Networking Challenge

A personal challenge to build real professional connections, one conversation at a time.

This summer, I’m setting a personal goal: a set number of one-on-one conversations with people outside my existing circles, completed before Labor Day. I’m sharing the guide I built for myself and inviting you to join me.

About the challenge

Most professional networks are narrower than they look. They run deep in one industry, one career stage, one geography … and the people already in them tend to know the same things you know and move in the same circles you move in.

The goal is simple: set a number of one-on-one conversations you want to have with people outside those circles, pick a deadline, and do it.

What’s in the guide

The participant guide walks you through the full challenge: the research behind why this kind of networking works, where to find people worth talking to, how to reach out without it feeling awkward, and four questions that make any conversation worth having.

It also includes an optional sub-challenge grid designed to push you toward the connections that are hardest to make and most likely to surprise you.
